RESTORATION FEASIBILITY
INVESTIGATIONS
 

Short Line Enterprises, Inc. prepared a series of Restoration
Feasibility Investigations for The Nevada State Park System and
the Nevada State Museum as part of the Museum development and
restoration program for the Nevada State Railroad Museum at Carson
City, Nevada.

 

Each investigation report contained a detailed study of the
history, chronology, specifications, current condition evaluation,
component analysis, preliminary archaeology and paint correlation,
and recommendations for the appropriate restoration period, operational
status and interpretation. Earlier reports included cost estimates,
later investigations paved the way for Restoration Engineering
projects which provided detailed restoration drawings and specifications
and cost projections.


1979 Restoration Feasibility Investigation on Virginia
& Truckee Railroad Locomotives Nos. 18 “Dayton”
and 22 “Inyo”
Prepared for the State of Nevada, Nevada State Park System.Recommended No.18 be restored to c.1882 appearance. Recommended
No. 22 be restored to c.1889 appearance.
1980 Investigation into Feasibility of Restoring
Locomotive No. 25 to Operating Condition.
Prepared for Nevada State MuseumPrepared boiler for inspection, provided cost estimates for restoration
to operating condition, recommended restoration to operating
condition.
1981 Restoration Feasibility Investigation on Nine
Selected Passenger and Freight Cars – Virginia and Truckee
Collection – Nevada State Museum.Prepared for the Nevada State MuseumRecommended cars be restored to selected periods to compliment
the locomotives and for all to be operable.
1982 Restoration Feasibility Investigation – Carson
& Tahoe Lumber & Fluming Company’s Lake Tahoe Narrow
Gauge Railroad Locomotive No. 2 ” Glenbrook”.
Prepared for Nevada State MuseumRecommended locomotive receive a new boiler and be restored to
as delivered, 1875, appearance and operating condition.
1984 Restoration Feasibility Investigation – Virginia
& Truckee Motor Car No. 99.
Prepared for Nevada State MuseumRecommended restoration to in-service appearance and operating
condition c.1921.
